Hey there SDH. I've got this 10-27-79 show playing at the moment. And, brace yourself, I'm not too impressed thus far. I thought the Jack Straw opener was one of the worst, most soulless versions I've ever heard. So I skipped on to the much -praised Dancin'-Franklins. Hmmm... could be that was one of the longest half hours I've spent in a while - aimless noodlings (were they phoning it in or what?) and the drummers sounding like they'd been replaced by machines or were busily erecting an outhouse on stage. I'm listening to He's Gone now and its ok - but certainly not great.

Anyway, I know, this is all entirely subjective, but I'm pretty damn sure this is the first time I haven't found myself throughly enjoying one of your suggestions (flying in the face of Dr Flashback too, what a nerve eh?) - so for that reason alone really I thought I'd let you know. But it isn't going to stop me listening to your next recommendation!

Goes to show, you don't ever know...

Enjoy your grokking tonight (I know you will).

OK - good Phil Bomb at the start of The Other One! But still maybe not enough to make this a keeper for me.

Another recommendation? This was recommended to me just this week hear and it is very, very nice indeed. Try Red Rocks 9/6/83. The Lazy Lightning/Supplication alone is worth it.

OK, my friend - I'd be glad to give it a go! Glad you weren't offended by my complaining - there was none intended. I'll hold on to Cape Cod and listen again when I'm in a different mood. It's kind of flat and grey here (my mood and the weather).

I guess when you pick up on posts from Tell, McGlone and BlkPeter and the responses that come in from folks like you, you realise what a fine old haven this forum can be - lots of good people around to put out a hand when a comrade takes a stumble.

To each his own, my friend. No offense taken that the show did not strike a chord with you. Hope all is well across the pond.

Cliff is flabbergastered!

He does think the Cape Cod shows are somewhat overrated, particularly 10/28, but 10/27/79 is really the only post-1977 Dead that Cliff regularly listens to (digs)...

Not to worry, Cliff. These gasted flabbers heal themselves pretty quickly!

Who needs look elsewhere for drama? Where else can you debate the advantages of a 72 Darkstar over 77 and then slip into a debate over the need for a pre-emptive strike on Iran? Plenty o' drama here, my friend. Sometimes too much, but beggars cant be choosers.
